College, Credit Cards, and Cutting the Cord

The thinking parents guide to managing your kids through college.

The choices your kids make will impact your financial independence and theirs. In this one hour session we will discuss managing expectations and defining your philosophy about paying for college. We will also give tips on what to watch out for with student loans, how to track them, and how to keep loan amounts manageable. As for cutting the cord, we will discuss long-term thinking and how to set reasonable expectations for your teen and for you. Megan Poore and Cass Grange have a combined 32 years in the financial planning profession and a combined 28 years as parents managing the financial expectations of their own children.

Teaching Your Children about Money

How do we teach kids to save money when they live in the land of plenty? Where do you start? Which lessons should you teach? This was an easier discussion when life demanded that children contribute financially to the family. Cass Grange and Megan Poore, with 20 years combined experience, will help you develop a plan for teaching your children practical money skills, without forcing them to get a paper route at age 10.

Is a Roth IRA Conversion Right for You?

Is your family income over $100,000? 2014 could be your year to convert IRA money to a Roth IRA. This is a strategy to sock away income for retirement that is tax-free. It’s an opportunity that is too important to ignore and too complex to decide on your own. Cass Grange and Bleckley Dobbs, CFP®, financial advisors with nearly 20 years of combined experience, will touch on the basics of Roth IRAs, why you should consider this new opportunity, and the issues you need to think about.

Our Speaking Philosophy
The advisors at Lucien, Stirling & Gray Advisory Group, Inc. have attended many boring and uninspiring investment seminars in the last twenty years. We strive to be approachable and not intimidating. We do not use complicated materials for that reason. Using a simple outline, we weave in personal anecdotes and motivating stories. Often the most beneficial part of the talk is the question and answer session, and we leave plenty of room and encouragement for interaction.
